Nexoniarz b872be3176 Finch 2.4.0: methods, maps, errors as values; str() of any value; macOS and ARM64 docs; Kate support 
- fn Struct.method(...) with self by reference, also on C structs
- map[K]V: insertion-ordered hash maps, literals, m[k] += 1, has/get/remove/keys/values
- -> T! / -> !, return error(...), or <value>, or { err }, try; fallible int/float/read_file/write_file/delete_file
- for i, x in list / for k, v in map
- print and str() share one text formatter
- LSP: method and map completion, method signatures; grammar and snippets for VS Code and Kate
- tests: 74 (methods, errors, maps + 11 failure cases); docs at all three levels, en and pl

Finch for Visual Studio Code

Support for the Finch programming language (.fch files):

  • Syntax highlighting, bracket matching, comments with Ctrl+/
  • Errors as you type: the real compiler checks the file (finch lsp)
  • Completion: variables, functions, structs, keywords, built-ins, struct fields and array/str methods after ., names from imported C headers
  • Hover shows types and signatures; Go to Definition (F12); Outline of functions and structs; parameter hints
  • Run button (▶ in the editor title, or Ctrl+F5) and Finch: Build This File; compile errors land in the Problems panel
  • Snippets: main, fn, fnr, struct, if, ife, for, foreach, while, input, …

Requirements

Finch 2.3 or newer. The extension runs finch from your PATH; if it lives somewhere else, set Finch: Path (finch.path) to the full path of finch / finch.exe.
