    The first release

    The most recent changes:

    • ldls: the top-2 GB window Linux modules link against
    • tools: release.sh publishes the ISO, and keeps only the newest one
    • README: the logo, what works now, and measured numbers
    • kernel: laptop touchpads over I2C-HID
    • X gets a VT: keyboard, terminal switching, and a way out
    • SCFF: the live root ships compressed, with Xorg and Window Maker
    • kernel: syscalls get the whole kernel stack
    • kernel: HTTPS through wget, half-close, and /proc//fd
    • X on the console: /dev/tty0, a palette, and startx that works
    • kernel: timers that fire, raw ping, and the sockets X needs
    • ramdisk: the live root grows into half of memory
    • build: the apk root is the only root
    • shell.nix: no hardening flags
    • build: an apk-managed root, with SchOS as a package
    • net: downloads at tens of megabits, not one
    • kernel: chroot, #! scripts, rename and mmap as apk needs them
    • flock, fcntl record locks
    • docs: the desktop is Xorg on the framebuffer
    • input, fb, vt, sysfs: the kernel calls Xorg makes
    • uefi, vm: 2 MB pages where the CPU has no 1 GB ones
    • irq: turn a PS/2 line over when its device waits and nothing comes
    • uefi: copy the kernel home and jump from a page it cannot reach
    • epoll, eventfd, timerfd, signalfd
    • exec, mmap, musl: dynamic linking
    • signals: a blocked signal stays pending instead of killing
    • kernel: load at 16 MB, clear of what firmware keeps low
    • uefi: stage what the firmware still holds; copy it home after it exits
    • make: a clean build no longer stops at lwIP
    • iso: a real EFI system partition, so a stick boots on strict firmware
    • bug pass: whole console lines, a quiet SCI, an honest reserve warning

Write it to a USB stick (dd if=schos-v0.1.0.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M, or Rufus/Etcher in
DD mode) and boot it. It runs from RAM and writes nothing to the machine's
    disks.
