Hi, I'm Nexoniarz.

I make the software I want to use myself — an operating system written from the metal up, a 3D modeller that a normal person can figure out, an image format that loads before you blink, a language without the boring parts of C, a password manager that stores nothing. Most of it starts with me being annoyed at something.

By day I co-run Pandor Systems with Pand0r and Wikt0o0r — I design the panels, the accounts and payments, and the Niveus look you're seeing right now. Everything else here I build on my own machines, on NixOS.

SchOS

A 64-bit operating system, written from the metal up — and it runs Linux's software.

  • SMP kernel
  • copy-on-write filesystem
  • Linux syscall ABI
  • Alpine packages
  • Xorg
  • Linux's own drivers

SchOS is a hobby operating system built by one person. It began as xv6 and almost nothing of that is left: the scheduler, the memory manager, the trap path and every driver have been rewritten for x86-64 and for more than one processor, and the filesystem is a different one. The syscall table speaks Linux's numbering, so real Linux programs run on it unmodified — statically or dynamically linked, straight out of Alpine's package repositories — and a desktop (Xorg and Window Maker) and a web browser (NetSurf) come up on the framebuffer.

Fry3DX

Fry3DX (Frying 3D Extreme): a 3D modeller that does what you'd expect. Pick a tool, click, drag.

Because the well-known modellers suck at being easy: a wall of panels, shortcuts nobody would guess, modes inside modes. Fry3DX is built the way people think — plain words on every button, a toolbox like GIMP's.
  • Five tabs: Model, Paint, Layout, Render, Print
  • Shapes stay editable; type exact sizes while dragging
  • The whole modeller on Android, not just a viewer
  • Vulkan, with OpenGL as the fallback

YAPF

Lossless images that decode several times faster than PNG — on one core.

Every structure is byte aligned and there is no entropy coder: the encoder does the hard work, so the decoder only follows instructions.
  • 5–12× faster decoding than PNG; a 4K image in ~6–7 ms
  • YAPF 2: GPU-ready BC1–BC7, ETC2, ASTC, cubemaps, mips
  • Two C99 files, no dependencies
  • Plugins for GIMP 3 and Blender, bindings for ten languages

Finch

Finch: a small, fast programming language on LLVM. C-like syntax, memory without free, structs and arrays, direct C library import, and a compiler written in itself.

Memory without the pain — lists, text and structs are values and the end of a block frees them. No free() to forget, no garbage collector to wait for.
  • fib(40) in ~0.19 s (clang -O2 on the same C: ~0.23 s)
  • Any C library directly — headers read by libclang
  • Errors that talk like a person
  • Language server, Linux / macOS / Windows, x86-64 and ARM64

Password manager · Kotlin

NexoPass

Passwords derived from a master, nothing stored in plain text. Android app, compatible with nexopass for NixOS.

The same master gives the same password on every device, so there is nothing to sync and nothing to leak. The app has no internet access at all.
  • Android, Windows, Debian / Fedora and the nexopass command on NixOS
  • Several accounts, each with its own master
  • Breached site? Rotate it to a new version
  • Encrypted OpenPGP export shared by every version

Niveus

A tactile, adaptive interface language: bevelled controls, solid windows, glass only where things float. One brand color drives light and dark.

Controls are bevelled keys with light falling across them, fields are wells cut into the surface, glass only for chrome that floats. Applications consume it; they never restate it.
  • Warm graphite in dark, soft paper in light, one brand colour driving both
  • REFERENCE.md: the whole API, readable by a person or a model
  • Ships Instrument Sans and JetBrains Mono
  • Four complete example products

NixOS configs

My own personal dotfiles and config for NixOS.

If I break something, I roll back. If I get a new machine, it is mine in one command.
  • KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland, Limine, Zsh, PipeWire
  • DNS-over-TLS, MAC randomisation, firejail, sysctl hardening
  • PRIME offload for games and local LLMs
  • Own scripts: vault, metadata stripping, hotspot, weather

How I build things

A few rules I keep coming back to

  1. 1

    Plain words beat jargon

Buttons say what they do. Errors say what went wrong and how to fix it.

  2. 2

    Fast where it matters

Do the hard work once — in the encoder, the compiler, the build — so the thing people use stays quick.

  3. 3

Nothing stored that doesn't have to be

Passwords are computed, not saved. Configs are code. Secrets never leave the machine.

  4. 4

    Tested before it's called done

Every README says what is tested and what is not yet. I would rather say "not yet" than pretend.
